We kicked off our road trip with a scenic drive down the California coast.
Our first stop? San Luis Obispo — a charming town where we grabbed lunch at the legendary Firestone Grill. Their tri-tip sandwich was juicy and flavorful — the perfect road trip meal.
After lunch, we strolled through downtown SLO before jumping back in the car.
We arrived in Santa Barbara and checked into our hotel. For dinner, we headed to Santo Mescal, a stylish and lively Mexican restaurant with a focus on seafood and a huge tequila selection.
The vibe was vibrant and the flavors were on point — definitely a spot we’d recommend for anyone visiting the area.
After dinner, Priscilla was in the mood for dessert, so we stopped at McDonald's for some classic soft serve. Sometimes, it’s the simple things!
We capped the night with a relaxing walk around downtown Santa Barbara, taking in the lights and laid-back atmosphere.
The next morning, we fueled up at Finney’s, a lively spot perfect for breakfast before a day out. Then it was off to the Santa Barbara Zoo, which turned out to be one of the most memorable stops.
Next, we headed over to Stern’s Wharf for ocean views and some classic clam chowder. It’s a must-do when visiting Santa Barbara.
While exploring the wharf, we came across a live blues band, which made for an unexpected and awesome moment. The music, the drinks, and the breeze made this one of the chillest parts of the trip.
We had heard about Solvang, a charming Danish-style village, and decided to check it out. It was peaceful, beautiful, and a perfect contrast to the livelier Santa Barbara.
For lunch, we stopped at Peasants Feast, which offered delicious, rustic fare in a cozy setting.
This road trip had everything — good food, unexpected finds, nature, and small-town charm. Santa Barbara and its surroundings are perfect for a weekend getaway. Whether you’re planning a spontaneous escape or a well-planned adventure, this region has something for everyone.
